The Forest for the Trees (Chapter 1 of "Roadmap to the Promised Land") by: Jason Fields

Forest For The Trees

There is an expression that says you can’t see the forest for the trees”. You may have never heard of this expression but odds are that you have and have even used it yourself. I have found a pretty accurate definition for this expression and it reads as such; Obsessive attention to certain details to the extent that one misses larger points and fails to understand the bigger picture.
Mountain top view
If we were to somewhat analyze this phrase and the definition shown we could maybe think of some of our own obsessive traits in areas of life that prevent us from seeing the bigger picture. Maybe we’re some of those who’ve been a believer in the Son of Yahuah (God) and have read the Bible for years and, to reference the expression above, have focused only on the trees (just a few certain truths) that we believe or have been told are the only ones that matter and therefore the view of the forest (the bigger picture) is no longer important. What if you discovered that the only way to truly understand the Scriptures and the context of the writers was to allow the Father to take you to a helicopter view of the whole Bible?
We as believers today have been plugged into ‘the story’ somewhat six thousand years removed from the start of creation and two thousand years or so removed from the Apostles writings and the struggles they faced in explaining this incredible fulfillment by the Redeemer from their Scriptures. There is a character prerequisite though to our heavenly Father bringing us to this amazing view of the Scriptures; a humble heart…
PSALM 24:3-4 Who may ascend the mountain of YHUH (the LORD)? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
Notice: Only clean hands and a pure heart will allow you to ascend His Mountain and stand in His holy place.
Let’s say you’re someone who has read the Bible so many times you’ve lost count and you’ve come to the conclusion that you must have a pretty firm grip on the main concepts you need to know from the Scriptures. You might be saying to yourself, “If there were any more foundational things in the Bible for me to grasp assuredly He would have shown me by now”. My question to a statement like this is; “Is it up to us and in our timing as to when He reveals new and deeper concepts in His word or is it in His timing?” I think an honest heart knows the answer to this question. There is an amazing prophecy in Isaiah about this very thing…
ISAIAH 48:6-7 You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? “From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you. They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, ‘Yes, I knew of them.
My brother in Messiah (who has co-labored with me in writing this book) and I have often talked about how we felt like we were at a stop sign in our walk with our Savior, especially with the Scriptures. Our service to others and discipline in our spiritual walk seemed to be strong but we knew there was something missing and we couldn’t quite figure out what it was. I believe this was a major time of testing for us to see if we would continue clinging to abstract theories on why there isn’t unity in the body (church) of Messiah or would we wait for the Father to reveal the answers that we sought.
HEBREWS 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please Yahuah (God), because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him.
As we both had been given a tremendous gift of faith we knew we needed to keep our hearts pure and humble in our pursuit of Him, and as stated in the scripture above, He then would reward our diligent seeking. I’d like to use a couple of scriptures that I had read many times as an example to show how when the Father decided to reveal a depth to His word that I couldn’t have imagined, these particular scriptures would be seen in a completely different light.
JOHN 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. Yahuah (God) is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Notice: the worship instructions; Spirit + Truth
My belief for many years of my walk was that it was all about the Spirit. Of course I still believed at that time that the Bible was an essential part of my growth and depth with my walk in the Spirit and had understood and memorized many verses that applied to spiritual concepts. These many verses of understanding came from absolutely scowering the New Testament which was incredible in my growth. The question is though, was I worshipping Him in complete truth? I must say there were many scary verses that I would continually come across in the New Testament that I just couldn’t quite get a handle on. For example in 1 John 1:8 how it says that…
1 JOHN 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
Yet, just a couple of chapters later it states…
1 JOHN 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
What on earth! This was extremely confusing. The teachers that I had continually listened to would always declare to the congregation that “we’re all just sinners” which would seem to be true at a cursory read of 1 John 1:8, but what about 1 John 3:6 which absolutely states that the one who continues to sin has neither seen Him or known Him. So, in light of 1 John 3:6 how could we continue to say and believe that “we’re all just sinners”? Maybe it’s that many of those who say that are actually habitually sinning and think it’s OK to keep some hidden habits of sin tucked away for no one to see, but…
1 CORINTHIANS 4:5 He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from Yahuah (God).
The revelation that would finally come brought clarity to this issue. See, before the revelation came I knew I had some sinful habits, but I had been told for so long that the blood of Jesus washes away those habitual sins and wanted to believe it myself because it technically let me off the hook, or so I thought. For some reason I had also tried to cling to this idea that we were so fortunate to be born in a time when the blood of Jesus washes away even my future sins. The fact is we could have just as easily been born in Moses’ day, what then?
Though, what about after Yahusha (Jesus) heals a man He shares this…
JOHN 5:14 Afterward Yahusha (Jesus) found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
Also, we always forget to mention Yahusha’s (Jesus) final declaration to the woman who was going to be stoned for committing adultery. We only key on what He told the Scribes and Pharisees which is “Whoever is without sin let him cast the first stone”.
Here is Yahusha’s (Jesus) last declaration to the woman…
JOHN 8:11 And Yahusha (Jesus) said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
How about Peter stating…
1 PETER 4:1-2 Therefore, since Messiah (Christ) suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of Yahuah (God).
What about Paul asking the question about continuing in sin…
ROMANS 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
So, Yahusha (Jesus), John, Peter, and Paul all agree that we can not go on sinning, yet we have been continually told by many teachers that “we’re all just sinners”. It should be stated that a lie never turns into the truth no matter how long it is told.
I had also reached a point where I needed more concrete answers as to why or how we truly arrived at the Messiah having to die for everyone. I began to realize that there were more significant reasons for Yahusha’s (Jesus) death than just for the fall of Adam and Eve. Yahuah (God) started revealing true meanings to words that I hadn’t even necessarily thought were that important. Words like covenant, righteousness, and inheritance to name a few. One of the other big Scriptures that took on a whole new meaning was…
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to Yahuah (God), a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
It was huge to realize that the only way these answers would come was to scower the Old Testament in the same way we had the New. Believing the whole Bible to be true this term of rightly dividing the word of truth told us we needed to thoroughly study the major pivot points in the Bible that got humanity to this point. What were all the ramifications for disobedience from His children, and what were Yahuah’s (God’s) provisions moving forward. Allowing Yahuah (God) to show me the bigger picture gave me an ability to see huge important details that I couldn’t have seen prior to having this view. Without a doubt, the most important word that we grasped that sprung this new revelation in the Scriptures was the word; covenant. We came to see that this word has always defined mankind’s relationship with Yahuah (God). There is no other relationship with Him that is available to us other than covenant relationship. Even Adam was in a covenant relationship with our Creator shown here as Hosea speaks about the children of Israel breaking the covenant just like Adam…
HOSEA 6:7 As at Adam, they have broken the covenant; they were unfaithful to me there.
We began meticulously moving forward from the time of creation and examined each time Yahuah (God) made a covenant with man, why that covenant came about, and what the parameters of that covenant were. Here is a covenant timeline that we developed as a teaching tool called the 7000 year plan of the Father which began with Adam in the garden and will eventually be brought back to that garden like state that Adam was originally in. We designed it in the form of a running shoe with a track going around showing that we are to run the race of eternal life (HEB 12:1). Also to eventually show you that this path displayed that we are to run out is way more pronounced than we have been originally taught.
Slide01
Also, by identifying these covenants that came before us, what would we find that we hadn’t known about the demands of our Covenant in the Messiah?
PSALM 25:8-10 Good and upright is YHUH (the LORD); therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of YHUH (the LORD) are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
Understanding the demands of our Covenant would end up bringing clarity to Paul making this statement…
1 CORINTHIANS 9:27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
I used to think, disqualified from what? What was this prize that Paul said he could be disqualified from? There was another warning in the book of Hebrews along the same lines that I would soon find out was completely connected to what Paul was talking about…
HEBREWS 12:16-17 See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.
Why was this warning about rejecting the inheritance in the New Testament? We eventually were able to see that we did have demands to our Covenant and that they directly related to who would inherit the Kingdom and who wouldn’t. It was huge to take a thorough look at this concept of inheriting because we had always been taught to only think in terms of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of Yahuah (God)? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of Yahuah (God).
Somehow it had eluded us that Paul was writing this letter to believers. Believers that practice these behaviors will not inherit the Kingdom, WOW! This sent us on a search to find out as much as we could about this inheritance. (Through that search we were able to reconcile the difference of “inheriting the Kingdom” vs. the concept of “heaven or hell”. The clarity of this issue will be explained in the final three chapters entitled Obedience/Disobedience, The Golden Calf Worship System, and The Promised Land!)
REVELATION 22:14-15 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
Notice: Doing His Commandments is connected to having the right to the tree of life and entering the gates of the city.
Out of all these categories of sinful believers that wouldn’t inherit His Kingdom, I was shocked to find out that one of the categories was practicing a lie.
Remember: prior notice of worship instructions; Spirit +TRUTH
It became abundantly clear to me in these findings that I could no longer make any excuses about my walk with Messiah. I had to understand what these categories of sinful behavior meant from Yahuah’s (God’s) perspective and not my own. I needed to worship (serve) Him by His truth. 1 John 3:6 started to make a lot more sense.
1 JOHN 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
As I understood that I couldn’t make any more excuses for sin I found this verse…
HEBREWS 12:4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
So the writer of Hebrews is talking about Yahusha (Jesus) and how He shed His blood, and says the same thing to us in saying that there might come a time where you will need to shed blood for the cause of Messiah, and he amazingly calls it resisting sin. In your mind, place yourself in a future situation where you’re given a choice on standing for the truth even if it meant being beaten or even killed. Truly, have you ever looked at that decision as RESISTING SIN?
It takes courage to walk out truth and resist sin. Overcoming sin must be how Revelation 22 declares that the ones who have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city are the ones who do (or obey) the commandments. I needed to know which commandments I needed to obey. I also began to think, “Could the right to the Tree of Life and going through the Gates into the City be our inheritance”?
There was one more aspect of understanding that needed to take place before I could start down this journey and it also involved humility, as it usually does. As there were more questions that needed answering there would be other concepts in the Bible that needed closer examination. Would I be willing to let those concepts go if they were not entirely true, was I teachable?
MARK 2:22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
Thankfully, I had heard the perfect interpretation to this verse and it helped me to really check my heart. This particular teacher had shared that an old wineskin referred to someone being unteachable. I had realized that I had allowed myself to become an old wineskin. Therefore, there was no ability to pour new wine or new teaching into my old wineskin. A new wineskin represents a person who can be stretched with new teaching or teaching that corrects false views. An old wineskin refuses to examine and test what he believes.
As Yahuah (God) is the author of truth it is up to us to stay open hearted to His truth at all times. Our perspective can and very likely will change as He reveals more truth. This is exactly why Yahusha (Jesus) chose men to be His disciples who were not schooled in the teachings of the Scriptures because He could mold them like children. They were totally new wineskins that He could pour His new wine (teaching) into and if He stretched them they wouldn’t burst (reject it).
MARK 11:25 At that time Yahusha (Jesus) said, “I praise you, Father, Lord (Ruler) of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
This spiritual concept is the same for us today no matter how long we’ve been a believer. The second we classify ourselves as the wise and learned it becomes almost impossible to change our views.
ROMANS 3:4 Let Yahuah (God) be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”
We must continually ask ourselves are we teachable?
Concrete vs. Abstract Thought
What if you found out that world history and culture, years before the Messiah even walked the earth, has played a major part in shaping your modern Christian views today? Wouldn’t it be important to know if our mindset of how we have understand our Bibles and how we have set up our church services had been majorly influenced by a past culture vastly different from the culture of those who wrote the Scriptures?
Using an analogy to help display my point, let’s say that you met someone you were really interested in. Things were going great in the beginning stages. You were so excited. Then, all of a sudden this person completely changes. They begin blowing up over things that aren’t that big of a deal. Also, as you now want to start moving towards marriage they become completely dispondant, almost numb. “But, things were going so well.” Would it be easy to just chalk it up to “well I guess it wasn‘t meant to be”? No, you’d want answers right? Would your view of the situation change a little if you then found out that this person had been mentally and physically abused their whole childhood? It should, right? Your whole paradigm in how you’d approach the situation would change. At least your view of the situation would totally change. You’d say to yourself, well that completely makes sense now.
Well, for us and our relationship with Messiah it is also crucial to truly understand the why’s of how we have this wonderful hope by looking intently at the past. Our Messiah redeemed us for deep reasons that Satan has tried to keep hidden from all of us.
In that same vain of marriage, we have entered into a marriage betrothal period with our Messiah…
2 CORINTHIANS 11:2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Messiah (Christ).
What if the roles were reversed and you were the one who all of a sudden wasn’t interested in the other person in your marriage betrothal period. You couldn’t blame the other person for backing out right? In light of this situation and how it relates to us and our Messiah (husband), could this be why many New Testament Scriptures tell us…
MATTHEW 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master (Lord, Lord),’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master (Lord, Lord), have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
This concept of practicing lawlessness could be the most important topic for any believer walking this planet. If the scripture says that by practicing lawlessness and not doing the will of My Father you will not enter the kingdom it becomes essential for us to fully understand what these concepts mean from the Fathers perscpective. As we move forward I want you to strongly consider in your hearts that the enemy has done everything he can to keep us hidden to the truth of why our Messiah has told us more than once that there will be many He tells He never knew. Even those prophesying and casting out demons. As we need to, as the scripture states, let Yahuah (God) be true and every man a liar in all humility I ask you to take this journey with us to answer these all important questions. Please keep an open mind and heart as we move forward. Ask yourself, can I afford to not have concrete answers on issues like my inheritance?
Before we delve into our inheritance, I believe it is crucial to make some very key points on how we arrived at our culture as we know it today, and how that culture has majorly influenced the way we view our Scriptures. By around 326 B.C. Alexander the Great had conquered most of the entire world. Here is a look at Alexander on the timeline.
Slide02
Now think about that for a second, he conquered most of the entire world! Not to mention he did all of this by the age of thirty. Our New Testament, for this very reason, mentions Gentiles as Greeks.
ACTS 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to Yahuah (God) in repentance and have faith in our Master Yahusha (Lord Jesus).
ROMANS 1:14 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
Alexander’s military feats were unparalleled but to take over a society he knew he had to change their views, the way that they thought. Now, Greek philosophical thinking didn’t just burst onto the scene with Alexander. In the 12th century B.C. a man named Homer wrote epic stories about a war between Greece and the City of Troy called The Iliad and The Odyssey. These stories were very influential on Greek art, science, philosophy, and religion. The poems written by Homer influenced the creative writing of the Greek myths of ancient gods and goddesses. From this spawned the idea of the ultimate minds of all the gods (Zeus), or the logos. The logos gave way to the idea of developing proper thinking, not proper action. This was a huge point of reference in Paul’s struggles with Greek minded people.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:22-23 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for (worldly) wisdom, but we preach Messiah (Christ) crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles (Greeks),
COLOSSIANS 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Messiah (Christ).
Homer’s literature also majorly influenced the idea of hero worship. So, at the core of the Greek society were mythology, the logos, and also hero worship. A few centuries later began the construction of gymnasiums. These were Greek arenas that housed athletic games where nude athletes would appease the gods, particularly Zeus, with their amazing feats. The word gymnos is the Greek word for naked. This led to smaller arenas called theaters being built for Greek tragedies and comedies. Soon after these theaters were built they were used for great philosophers to have famous debates. These debates were a way for the great intellects to out intellectualize each other. These debates produced the likes of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle are deemed by most historians to be the most influential people in shaping Western culture.
Slide03
The first of these to arrive on the scene was Socrates who according to most current encyclopedias was the most influential thinker to the Western world. Today the Socratic Method, which is inductive reasoning, is a wide spread way of thinking which is reasoning from particular facts to a general idea. The problem though, is it’s based from an abstract view of what fact is. Life was based upon ideas and thoughts to be debated without any real conclusions. If I can out debate you with my vast intellect, then by default, I must be right. Socrates also taught that there were no instructions from the gods, just one’s own moral intellect to guide them to a happy life. Socrates challenged conventional Greek thinking and opened up very new ideas. Socrates also taught that no one is inherently evil.
Socrates most influential student was Plato. Plato would take Greek philosophy to another level. Believe it or not Greek thinking was rather tame up until this point. Plato was a member of the social elite and brought very powerful contributions to religious thought. Plato taught the dualism of man, that man consisted of two separate parts soul and flesh. The soul was inherently good and the flesh was inherently bad. It was only the soul that could do good. The flesh was incapable of doing good and just a passing phase of our existence. What this led to was the idea that what the body did was irrelevant. So, now combine ultimate knowledge the logos and what you do in the flesh doesn’t matter and you’ve got a deadly combination in influencing scriptural thought.
This way of thinking is what led to Gnosticism, which is alive and well today, though called by different names. Life would consist of metaphysical abstract concepts separated from any commands or instructions. These concepts could be debated for centuries without truly being able to prove or disprove the ideas. These thoughts and debates led to an ultimate idea of what is called the demiurge. The demiurge was this dualistic god that created the world. As the thought went, the world was a cruel place and the demiurge was the god of bloody wars and sacrifices. To escape these realities one needed to develop the logos who was the good god (the son) of this dualistic god. This was called getting in touch with the mind of the gods. One must escape into a spiritual world by abstract thought since there was nothing consistent or concrete to the world around us. By this point in time Greek thought was all about what you created and could conceive of yourself that was the standard. Plato’s philosophies have tremendously shaped the world we live in today.
Aristotle was the next great philosophical thinker and was one of Plato’s most brilliant followers. Aristotle taught that truth was discovered by systematic arguments called premise to conclusion. The problem was your premise was always from human logic and human experience. The conclusion of truth was always up to the individual to figure out as the gods never supplied these truths. It should be noted that somehow these gods were still to be worshipped and revered. Maybe this is where we get the phrase “God helps those who help themselves”.
Alexander the great came at the time of Aristotle and considered Aristotle the leading mind in intellectual philosophical inquiry. Alexander combined the conquests of the known world through the inspiration from Homer’s the Iliad and the brilliant psychological and philosophical tactics passed down from Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Alexander knew that you must infuse other cultures with the Greek language and especially Greek thought. As Alexander would be called the son of Zeus he taught that the gods would make their wishes known through brilliant speeches in theaters and arenas by the greatest intellectual speakers.
When Alexander died the entire known world was broken up between his top four generals who were thoroughly trained in Greek language and thought which was mandatory per Alexander’s request. These next 300 years, just prior to Messiah coming to earth, would come to be known as the Hellenistic Age.
Slide04
This Hellenistic Age (Hellenistic stemming from “Helen of Troy” the goddess type in Homer’s writings) with the influence of Homer, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle would solidify our Western world as we know it today.
There has never been a world king like Alexander the Great that dominated our known world in the way of such brilliant psychological tactics combined with powerful military tactics.
At the time when Paul began preaching and teaching how Yahusha (Jesus) was indeed the Messiah he right away began with the Greeks (Gentiles). The fact that Greek thought had infiltated the entire known world, thanks to Alexander, was exactly why Paul in his writings would sometimes refer to the Gentiles as Greeks. I want to show you a verse in the New King James version explaining the Greeks (Gentiles) having this overpowering way of thinking called Hellenism.
ACTS 9:29 And he spoke boldly in the name of the Master Yahusha (Lord Jesus) and disputed against the Hellenists, but they attempted to kill him.
This Hellenistic thinking dominated every out landing area from the region of Judea even influencing many Judeans. As we move along to a time just after the disciples and the letters they wrote, many believers of Yahusha (Jesus) kept this Greek way of thinking and began to teach many Greek concepts and views towards, especially, Paul’s letters. One of the biggest influential teachers of this time was a man named Marcion. Being influenced by Gnostic thought himself he interpreted and taught Paul’s writings of this battle between flesh and Spirit in the dualistic way of thinking. The actual flesh (the body) is incapable of doing any good therefore one must always either repress any natural instincts of the body for the Spirit or when you slip into the flesh it doesn’t matter anyways because it’s the Spirit, void of any rules, that will always carry you towards the Kingdom. As there were many followers of Messiah that rejected these teachings there were also those who strongly carried it along as it continues to thrive in the minds of believers today.
ROMANS 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
It is very easy to see how someone could interpret this verse in a dualistic way. The fact is, it is the sinful deeds of the body that leads to death, whether you‘ve received the Spirit or not. Of course, one could never overcome these sinful deeds without receiving His Spirit. But, our Eloah (God) cares very much about our bodies and that we glorify Him with them.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from Yahuah (God), and you are not your own. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify Yahuah (God) in your body and in your spirit, which are Yahuah’s (God).
This next verse I want to show has everything to do with cleansing ourselves BECAUSE we have great promises.
2 CORINTHIANS 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of Yahuah (God).
Notice: the scripture states for us to cleanse both flesh and spirit.
As we move forward in history there was another leader that played a major role in westernized Modern Christianity today and his name was Constantine. As the Roman Empire began to dominate the world, Constantine adopted Christianity as the state’s Religion. The Catholic Church as we know it today is a complete result of what Constantine did and then solidified laying down major creeds at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, one being the celebration of Easter over Passover.
Slide05
Prior to these events though in his youth, Constantine studied Latin, Greek, and Greek Philosophy. If studied Greek and Greek Philosophy there is no question he was influenced by Alexander. The twist on all of this though was Constantine’s idea to make Christianity a state run Religion, helping to sever anything Hebrew or Jewish about the Scriptures, ironically our Messiah being both.
It is very likely that Constantine himself wouldn’t have even considered himself a Christian, at least not until the very end of his life. It is said that Constantine had a vision of the cross in the sun and therefore used this symbol for all of his military conquests. Although the monuments from these victories show he always left symbols of the sun. Constantine, having the power as an emperor, combined Christianity with Paganism. This is a historical fact that can’t be underestimated as it relates to a believer in the Messiah today. Constantine is considerd by many to have been the very first Pope.
All of the things Constantine did set the stage for 1200 years of military conquest known as ‘the Dark Ages’ where the Catholic Church carried the “Christian flag”, so to speak.
During this time it became more and more solidified that the Pope was the only one that could interpret the Scriptures. Mind you, it had also shifted to the Latin language.
In 1517, a man named Martin Luther came onto the scene and challenged this edict of the Pope being the only one to interpret the Scriptures and the Protestant Reformation was the result.
Slide07
To many this was the most important step towards Christianity as we know it today. But was it really? As Luther had the right idea to inform everyone that each indivitual had the right to read and interpret the Bible for themselves, unfortunately his focus was primarily on the New Testament. In 1522, Luther only worked at translating the New Testament into German. The Old Testament wouldn’t get translated into German until 12 years later. As Martin Luther did take a great step in helping people seperate from a very religious and controlling situation, the damage had already been done with the strong belief that we were in a completely new dispensation where Christianity was separate from our real fathers of the faith who were Hebrews.
This is why Constantine and Martin Luther are considered “fathers of Christianity”. They solidified this idea that we were in a COMPLETELY new dispensation. It should be noted that Luther also despised anything Hebrew or Jewish.
Thus, the Old Testament was devalued of major Scriptural importance and in essence became just lessons on what not to do. With this type of thinking the teaching of these lessons from the Old Testament becomes up to the disgression of the individual teacher and how he decides to weave them into his teachings. The major belief was and is still strong today that all one needed, ultimately, was the New Testament. But, how could you truly understand the revelation of the New Testament without understanding the context of the Old. That’s like watching the final third of a movie and saying that you know everything about the characters and how they arrived to the place that summed up the conclusion of the story. Impossible!
Conclusion
The most important factor in presenting you with these historical accounts is not so much to display the different languages the Bible went through, but for us to understand the mindsets in how we view our Bibles. Although we do have many Bible translations today that say they have gone back to the original Greek and Hebrew languages to give us our English Bibles which is great, much would still get lost in translation. There is a way of communicating ideas that only by understanding the culture could you understand what’s actually being said. Our western culture and society is way different from those who penned the Scriptures.
Using another analogy to try and display my point, let’s say you were told to “go get a chicken, prepare it, cook it, and eat it”. Even in America this could constitute totally different actions in carrying this out. If all you knew was growing up on a farm you would know to go get your chicken from the coupe, then kill it by cutting its head off making sure all of the blood is drained, then pluck all of the feathers and thouroughly clean the animal before any marinating. To a farm guy that’s what going to get a chicken and preparing it is. To a guy that only knows city life it’s as easy as going down to the store and buying one, come back home, take it out of the bag, rinse it off, and then begin marinating. If a statement like this here in America carries totally different actions, do we really think we can understand our Bibles and the things being said sherely based on a 21st century westernized English mindset?
So, I’d like to sum up much of our Greko-Roman history that has shaped our minds in viewing the Scriptures. My hope is that you can take an honest look at these things and realize that we were born into a culture that was shaped by the historical events just displayed. Also, we were ‘born again’ into veiwing the Scriptures in a very similar way which I hope you’ve been able to start seeing. I understand that this information could bring a range of emotions from either complete disbelief on its relevance, to frustration of “if this is true what now”, or perhaps somewhere in between. The question is if there are terms and sayings in your Bibles that you’ve misinterpreted or been told they mean something that they don’t, wouldn’t you want to know?
Remember, our enemy (Satan) has been trying everything he can for literally centuries to keep us from truth and will continue to do so until his time is up. Knowing this, I ask you to not make a knee jerk reaction to the information we will present. It sure has blown us away in the most profound way. Truly, it was what we had been waiting for our whole walk with Messiah.
2 Corinthians 13:8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
In summarizing these ideals that range from abstract philosophy, to man’s religion controlling the people, our hope is that you can humbly look at this list and identify if you yourself have believed conclusions that were shaped from some of these views. As Satan is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2) it is he who has spread these falsities against concrete and functional Biblical truth.
SUMMARY –
Alexander’s conquest
1)  Hero worship
As the body of believers, have we not fallen victim to this mindset by elevating the Pastor or Teacher as a hero type to the point where the people identify their identity with which hero (Pastor) is leading them. Yet Scripture states:
I CORINTHIANS 1:12-13 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Messiah (Christ).” Is Messiah (Christ) divided? Was Paul (or your Pastor) crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul (of your Pastor)?
MATTHEW 23:6-10 “They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues (churches as well), “greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi (Pastor, Pastor as well).'”But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’ (or even Pastor); for One is your Teacher, the Messiah (Christ), and you are all brethren. “Do not call anyone on earth your father (the Catholic Priest); for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.”And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Messiah (Christ).
2)  The Logos – proper thinking, not proper action
I have personally seen Bible believing churches label their Scriptural understanding as having the Logos. Yikes! Whether it is this in your face or not, many have taken this mindset. Many think of faith in this same way.
JAMES 2:17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 24. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
3) Theater environments
Early in my walk I had the fortune of being part of a very gifted servant minded church. We met in a grade school gym and everyone helped out in setting up and taking down the chairs for service. This was a very powerfully annointed church. Even the one who taught stood on the same ground level with everyone attending. As numbers grew the leaders decided to build their own building. It was a beautiful facility with a wonderful stage and comfortable theater seating. Within a year the unity that we had was gone, the worship became more of a concert, and the Father’s presence left. It takes very strong humble people to not be affected in their focus towards Messiah by these theater environments. The reality is they terribly affect us all.
4)  Dualism – two separate parts; soul and flesh – what’s done in the flesh is of no importance because only the soul is eternal
Hasn’t this mindset affected our stance against sin in our lives? This minset is exactly why believers have interpreted certain scriptures to say that once you’ve received the Messiah’s blood atonement there is nothing you can do to keep you from the security of your stance with Him. Yet scripture states TO BELIEVERS:
ROMANS 6:13-15 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to Yahuah (God) as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
ROMANS 3:5-8 But if our unrighteousness brings out Yahuah’s (God’s) righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That Yahuah (God) is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.) Certainly not! If that were so, how could Yahuah (God) judge the world? Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances Yahuah’s (God’s) truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner? Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—”Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is just!
5)  Gnostic thought – abstract concepts seperated from any commands or instructions
This mindest has played a major role in interpreting Yahusha’s (Jesus) words “If you love me, obey my commandments” as, He is just referring to loving God and loving my neighbor. Although this is true, the problem lyes with an abstact concept of loving God and their neighbor. We can not look at this from a human perspective. Love can be an abstact word to where someone might say they “love hamburgers” and they “love God”. Do they really love them the same way? In a concrete way, we love Yahuah (God) by doing what He says to do. When Yahusha (Jesus) said “If you love me keep my commandments” there was no confusion at the time of what He was talking about. The first four commandments of the ten explain how we love Yahuah (God). The final six explain how we love our neighbor. When He says to not worship other gods or idols we must fully understand what He considers to be a false god or an idol. Not what they are from our perspective living in the 21st century.
6)  Demiurge – the idea of a dualistic god both contrary in nature – one is the god of bloody wars and conquest and the other god is the Logos where one can escape by mental ascent with abstract thought, reaching the minds of the gods.
When I first became a believer in Jesus (Yahusha) there was this strong idea that was rampid which affected the way I viewed my Bible. The idea was the God of the Old Testament was the God of blood and vengance and we were so fortunate to be part of the Jesus dispensation because there is no more wrath for those who accept the Son. This way of thinking stems from the dualistic centered mindset on the Father and the Son. The fact is they have both played a major part throughout history. As we get into later chapters you will see that Jesus (Yahusha) was the angel of the LORD (YHUH) who actually carried out a tremendous amount of the Father’s judgment to those who stood in the way of Yahuah’s (God’s) Covenant people. The Father and the Son each played their roles throughout history not in different dispensations which has been predominantly taught. On the idea of there being no more wrath for the believer, scripture states otherwise:
ROMANS 2:5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of Yahuah’s (God) wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
EPHESIANS 5:5-6 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Messiah (Christ) and of Yahuah (God). Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things Yahuah’s (God’s) wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
7)  Premise to Conclusion –
(based soley from human logic and experience)
Could this mindset be why most preachers speak more about stories from their lives than they teach about the true application from His Word?
2 PETER 2:2-3 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
That scripture might sound like those are extreme cases, but even those teachers fell victim to the wrong mindset. What I’m trying to convey is seeing how a mindset that Satan spawned has majorly affected us all in some way or another. If your teaching is based from the idea that “Jesus did it all so you don’t have to” your mindset becomes to just do your best and you will be able to help people through stories of how you did your best with Jesus and not from scripture plainly warning us time and time again for believers to not live in sin any longer or how we learn obedience by what we suffer, just like our Messiah.
8)  The gods making their wishes known through brilliant speeches in theaters or arenas
This mindset has infiltrated the way we view our leaders. Not that someone brilliantly conveying a message is a bad thing persay, it’s just that a believer’s gage should never be about always needing their head Pastor to deliver this amazingly brilliant message for you to stay close and obey your Messiah. It should be more about making sure we speak the truth of His word at all cost. Also, your Pastor will not be standing before the judgment seat of Messiah on your behalf. In this vain Paul explains:
1 CORINTHIANS 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on Yahuah’s (God’s) power.
Constantine’s conquest
9)  State Politics with Christianity –
                                  (Blending paganism with Christianity)
How many “so called” Christian leaders play right into what Satan worked through Constantine? The ‘ways of the nations’ descibed in the Bible is exactly what these leaders have fallen prey to when they link up with governmental officials. If these officials truly were doing what the Bible teaches they would get removed so quickly by the other officials using any means necessary.
The topic of blending paganism with Christianity is one of the most important topics for any believer walking this planet. When you realize that our Eloah (God) has very significant Holy Days that are His Holy Days not “Jewish Holy Days”, and that Satan worked through Constantine to solidify changing them in “Christianity” to pagan days such as Christmas and Easter you will find yourself at a crucial crossroads in your walk with Messiah. There is a tremendous amount on this topic explained thouroughly in a later chapter entitled ‘The Golden Calf Worship System’.
10)  One person having authority on Scriptural interpretation
This mindset has plagued us whether we want to admit it or not. Many people look to their Pastors as the end all be all on where they find truth. The teacher is just a servant who hopefully is teaching the right message.
I CORINTHIANS 4:3-7 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Master (Lord) has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but Yahuah (God) has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only Yahuah (God), who makes things grow.
1 JOHN 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
We must ask ourselves are we being taught by His Spirit or by just a man.
11)  COMPLETELY new dispensation with Messiah
This mindset has been a major influence into the idea that all one truly needs is the New Testament for an efective walk with their Savior. Combine all the mindsets in the former ten in your view of the New Testament and you’ve now got some major problems. Yet Paul tells us:
2 TIMOTHY 3:15-16 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Messiah Yahusha (Christ Jesus). All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Paul, in saying the Holy Scriptures, is without a doubt referring to the Old Testament. Remember, AT THAT TIME, 2nd Timothy was just a letter written by Paul clarifying what was written in the Old Testament (The original Scriptures). The Old Testament can make you wise for salvation through faith in Messiah Yahusha (Christ Jesus)! Once again, when he wrote this letter the readers looked at it to bring clarity to what was already written in the Old Testament.
Another problem with this mindset was we began to look at our Messiah through a westernized Greek lens rather than through the Hebrew lens which is His heritage from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If it’s His heritage then it’s our heritage as well no matter what man has tried to change.

Dismantling the 'Torah Doctrine' Part 1

Dismantling the ‘Torah’ doctrine series (part 1)

Do you remember what it was like before we were changed by His Spirit, right? We had no desire to obey and absolutely no power to execute even if we wanted to.

(The above statement is my highlighted comment in this post ~speaking of the people and the events at Mt Sinai)

The word “Torah” is a staple in many of our vocabularies since finding deeper truths. There are statements like:
  • “I am Torah observant”
  • “The Torah is written on our hearts and minds”
  • “Abraham kept Torah”
  • “Heaven and earth will pass away but the Torah will not”
  • “Messiah Yahusha is the living Torah made flesh”

The scripturally accurate statements are:

  • “I keep Yahuah’s covenant”
  • “The Ten Commandments are written on our hearts and minds”
  • “Abraham kept the instructions given him”
  • “Heaven and earth will pass away but His Covenant, The Ten Words, will not”
  • “Messiah Yahusha is the living Word made flesh”
To make a long post very short and point to our COVENANT teachings for further discovery, this “Dismantling the word ‘Torah’ series” is designed to make a person THINK. Torah never (not once in scripture) is defined as “The First Five Books of Moses”. But rather, the simple definition and application within every verse of interpretation is “Instructions, Directions, or Teaching”.
Law is mentioned in 595 verses within scripture. Covenant is mentioned in 315 verses. Yet, in teaching circles Covenant is not ever the emphasis of scripture nor are the individual 8 covenants (there are only 8) that Yahuah made with mankind. The covenant remain unidentified and they are not properly broken down by the TERMS and CONDITIONS within each covenant. The main reason for a lack of teaching on this subject is because without identifying all 8 covenants (we have yet to find anybody identify all 8) it is impossible to view scripture through a seamless covenant story knit together by these 8 covenants. The New Covenant is literally disconnected from its covenant foundation so both Christians and Torah people alike are left with doctrines. For this reason important reason of revealing the covenant plan to my brothers and sisters in Yahusha we are putting the test to the ‘Torah’ doctrine in this article.
THE COVENANT PLAN OF YAHUAH is deeply hidden and has taken us several years to assemble the pieces of this covenant plan. Upon assembling this plan we see how the doctrines of “Grace” for the Christian and “Torah” for the Hebrew Roots person results in many doctrinal errors, misunderstandings, and wrong interpretation of verses. Ultimately, both groups (Christian & Torah) clearly see the glaring problems of the other camp of believers. This post is designed to equip the Torah believer with the proper understanding to help rescue our brothers and sisters breaking their blood covenant they entered with their Savior.
As mentioned of the sheer numbers of the times Covenant is mentioned, it is Covenant that actually defines “Law”. So, therefore “Law” cannot scripturally be defined accurately without seeing “Law” or “Instructions” are a function of “Covenant”.
Before we begin part 1 of this series I have come to realize a disclaimer is necessary.
When people hear a message contrary to their doctrine they believe what is being said is coming against their core belief system. When people say “they keep Torah” what they are really saying is they keep kosher food laws and the Feast days.
It’s the strangest thing but if this is not mentioned before we begin, this post and these covenant facts are immediately discarded. So, please understand this series designed to make people THINK is to prayerfully point them to seeking THE COVENANT PLAN OF YAHUAH so they can see ALL SCRIPTURE is reconciled through understanding THE COVENANT PLAN:
TORAH DISCLOSURE
1) Clean and unclean meat is a COVENANT issue, beginning when meats were introduced through the COVENANT with Noah. Noah brought clean animals on the ark 7x7 and unclean 2x2 (one male and one female). Eating meat was first established through Noah (for 1692 years from Adam only plants was food for man). Eating an unclean animal has never been acceptable for anybody to eat ~ let alone a believer in covenant with the Savior.
2) Three Feasts were the original COVENANT ANNIVERSARIES of the WEDDING that tragically went wrong at Mt Sinai (resulting in a 1500 year period which Yahusha Messiah as the Angel of Yahuah had to come in the flesh to CHANGE THE PEOPLE.
A) PASSOVER/UNLEAVENED BREAD = when Yahuah carried the first generation of
Abraham's descendants on eagles wings to Himself
B) FEAST OF WEEKS/SHAVU'OT/PENTACOST = when Yahuah first their covenant,
the Ten Words (Commandments)
C) TABERNACLES = when they were supposed to celebrate the time they
entered the LAND promised them and dwelt together (they fell short of
this promise)
Now that we have the disclosure out of the way. Below is a post of the perspective of a Torah perspective and my answer. I am withholding the name of the individual as I have not received their permission to repost our discussion. I am prayerful that this person is considering what I have stated in their observation. I am labelling them “PERSON 1” and a second person who entered the conversation as “PERSON 2”.
This post and comments I believe are extremely important to read how a Torah indoctrination leads to so many wrong observations and errant doctrines.

THE POST SUBJECT: THE GOLDEN CALF

PERSON 1 (initial post)

Disobedient or frightened?
When Moses disappeared up the mountain for that extended time, the Israelites - who had walked with Father all the time during the Exodus up to then - knew they needed protection but felt abandoned and frightened about the future.
So, under Aaron's leadership, they manufactured a god, the Golden Calf, in a vain attempt to provide spiritual guidance and protection from on high!
Yes Father chastised them but He also showed enormous understanding - for not even Aaron was killed on the spot.
This is all in His Word and it defies understanding when some people claim that no one could keep the Torah/Law in their gross ignorance!
It surely was not a matter of 'could not' - it was a case of 'would not'!
You would think that such ignoramuses would at least have read the Word before judging His Word! Because that is what they have done - sans understanding and guidance of His real Spirit, obviously!

Kirk Carmichael

Brother, you are processing your thoughts through a "Torah" doctrine. How can you read Exodus 32 and not see how the Father had ZERO understanding. He had not one iota of understanding as He was GOING TO KILL THEM ALL and make a nation out of Moses and HE DID "BLOT THEM OUT OF HIS BOOK” (Exodus 32:33) which eliminated their inheritance ~ the entire point of the story.
We are also told He turned them them over to “the hosts of heaven” and their vain imagination and the first generation DIED IN THE WILDERNESS. Not one of them of the first generation entered HIS LAND. There was only ONE THING that saved them (for the short period of time): MOSES KNEW YHWH MADE THE BLOOD COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM AND INTERCEDED ACCORDINGLY. This set into motion the ALTERNATIVE COVENANT ARRANGEMENT called “The Law of Moses” (not defined as a “First five books of Moses" doctrine but a TEMPORARY COVENANT which was “added for transgressions” and “the schoolmaster to lead them to Messiah”).
This is all written in the synopsis I gave you yesterday but you “were not ready” to look at it. This incorrect perspective and indoctrination spills over into all theology, as seen here. It really is huge to enter into the story and get our definitions and story line correct to reach our Christian brothers and sisters stuck in the Babylonian religion. You have a very good spiritual understanding as it appears of the spirit realm ~ this needs to be understood. This is crucial.
Please enter into the story here at Mt Sinai and re-examine what happened:

PERSON 1 REPLY

Kirk Carmichael - believe it or not I am processing your discussion about the 7 trips but in your eagerness to punt your discovery you missed the message in this post.
The message is based on many on this forum stating that the Israelites COULD NOT keep Torah. My contention is that they did NOT WANT TO keep Torah - huge difference.
Thus the message is that Torah is not difficult to keep and that those claiming otherwise actually just don't have a clue of what they are really claiming even if Moses went up and down 20 times and even if only a couple of them made it into the promised land.

Kirk Carmichael

But see brother, this word “Torah” just means “instructions”. It wasn’t a matter of not wanting to keep “Torah”, it was flat out rebellion to not listen to the “instructions” He JUST GAVE THEM. The overriding theme of scripture from Adam to the last Adam (Yahusha) was the people needed to be CHANGED… this is the “born again” experience we have encountered by His covenant, the Ten Words, being written on our hearts and minds.
Do you remember what it was like before we were changed by His Spirit, right? We had no desire to obey and absolutely no power to execute even if we wanted to.
We have a covenant Creator who establishes His laws via COVENANT. Laws are not created in a vacuum. When Abraham “obeyed his laws” in Genesis 26:5 it was speaking of him obeying specifically what he was told to do. That’s what “law” means: “instructions”. You or I nor the Israelites were told to put their son on an alter and sacrifice him ~ Abraham was given “instructions” to do so… likewise “leaving his land and family to the land He would show him” and to “be circumcised at age 99”, etc.
So, please look at how Paul wrote accordingly of this COVENANT PLAN. (Paul’s writings will all make perfect sense by seeing this mystery)
(speaking of “the law” given at Mt Sinai and COMPARING it to being CHANGED by believing in the promise of believing in the Son)
ROMANS 4:15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there IS NO LAW (NO COVENANT) there is no transgression
Those at Mt Sinai had no promise to "believe and be accounted as righteousness" in which would CHANGE them like Abraham or you or I in the New Covenant:
GALATIANS 3:21 For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
COMPARING THE BROKEN COVENANT WITH ADAM TO MT SINAI (WHICH IS DEFINED AS SINNING ACCORDING TO THE LIKENESS OF ADAM) THAT NOBODY BETWEEN ADAM AND MOSES SINNED BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT A COVENANT BY WHICH THEY COULD BREAK:
ROMANS 5:12-14
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (For UNTIL THE LAW ***THE COVENANT AT MT SINAI*** sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed WHEN THERE IS NO LAW ***NO COVENANT***). Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had NOT SINNED ACCORDING TO THE LIKENESS OF THE TRANSGRESSION OF ADAM, who is a type of Him who was to come.
SO HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED LEADING UP TO THE GOLDEN CALF:
TRIP 1: OFFER OF “BEING A KINGDOM OF PRIESTS AND HOLY NATION” AND CONDITIONS: THEY MUST “OBEY HIS VOICE AND KEEPING HIS COVENANT”
TRIP 2: MOSES BRINGS BACK THE PEOPLES ACCEPTANCE
TRIP 3: THE PEOPLE DO NOT GO UP THE MOUNTAIN OUT OF FEAR SO MOSES GOES BACK DOWN TO THE PEOPLE ***AT THE BOTTOM*** YHWH SPOKE HIS COVENANT, THE TEN WORDS/COMMANDMENTS
TRIP 4: THE PEOPLE ***REJECT HIS VOICE*** AND SAY TO MOSES THEY WILL HEAR FROM MOSES BUT DO NOT WANT YHWH TO SPEAK TO THEM ANYMORE OR THEY DIE ***BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN*** THEY BLOOD RATIFY THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT SPOKEN TO MOSES THAT THE PEOPLE AGREE TO
HERE ARE SOME OF THE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN THE PEOPLE AS THEY BLOOD RATIFY (MAKE A BLOOD COVENANT) THE AGREEMENT:
EXODUS 20:22-26
Then YHWH said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. You shall not make anything to be with Me—gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves. An altar of earth you shall make for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. And if you make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone; for if you use your tool on it, you have profaned it. Nor shall you go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed on it.’
NO LESS THAN 40 DAYS LATER THEY ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THEY AGREED THEY WOULD NOT DO, BUT THIS TIME THEIR OBEDIENCE WAS BOUND BY A BLOOD COVENANT AGREEMENT. IF YOU UNDERSTAND CONTRACTS WHEN YOU GO TO COURT YOU ARE BOUND BY A CONTRACT. IN ANCIENT UNDERSTANDING DEATH IS THE RESULT OF VIOLATING A BLOOD COVENANT.

PERSON 2

Kirk Carmichael, you have made some very astute points... and i commend the church doctrine from Isralite doctrine.... however, the Torah is more than instructions and many try to simplify it... The Greeks are more accurate when from their perspective by saying Infallible Law.... Requirements is far more accurate thatn instructions... simply saying instruction is ONLY applying a tenth of what the word conveys, it also includes discipline, as well as instructions.. it also renders a directive.. a specific mannar and way to submit to the Towrah...the TEN WORDS are an absolute requirement for salvation... the blood covenat is the blood that flows through the veins... life is in the blood of Moses and Aaron.. THAt is the ONLY blood that can produce the Messiah... Miraim the daughet of Moses and Aaron.... the shem Kohan/KHN in the ancient vernacular is identical to Malak/Tzedek... Cheif/Soveriegn/authority... the abstract Greek has made the term King and Priest... the best the translators could make with Greek language... shalom shalom
When we see a name, such as "King David" we see the word "King" as a title and "David" as a name. In our western mind a title describes a character trait while a name is simply an identifier. In the Hebrew language there is no such distinction between names and titles. Both words, King and David, are descriptions of character traits. The Hebrew word melekh (king) is "one who reigns," while daviyd (David) is "one who is loved". Both of these words are titles, describing the character of David. It is also common to identify the word "Elohiym" (Elohiym) as a title and YHWH (Yahweh) as a name. What we do not realize is that both of these are character traits. YHWH is both a word and title meaning "one who exists" and Elohiym is a word and a title meaning "one who has power and authority". The Hebrew word "shem" more literally means "character". When the Bible speaks of taking Elohiym's name to the nations, he is not speaking about the name itself but his character. When we are commanded to not take Elohiym's name in vain, this literally means not to represent his character in a false manner. This is similar to our expression, "have a good name," which is not about the name itself but the character of the one with that name......
Many try to make YHWH a personal NAME, when it is ALWAYS HIS character... i am YHWH i can NOT change... describes the character... as never changing.. the Infallible Law of the Universe.. or the Absolute Instructions/Reqitrements/Discipline... shalom shalom

Kirk Carmichael

Hello Zayin ~ have you heard the phrase: you can't see the "Forest for the Trees"? The short definition is: "paying obsessive attention to detail and failing to see the big picture". By applying these verses and concepts you mention you make valid points of "The Trees" and do not see "The Forest".
If we were to spend time together to walk chronologically from Adam and lay the covenant foundation I assure you I would lay so much granular detail you could not nor would want to debate as long as truth is our goal and we both have open hearts. I have been laying this foundation with two other brothers and we have all stayed humble and open to correction. I remain humble and open to correction but you can't just swoop in and repeat a verse here or there (as Christians support their doctrines the same) to support a doctrine of "Torah" that is not a doctrine at all. There were 8 covenants (no more and no less) that our Father established His plan through ~ the first 7 all play a function in the "first covenant".
So, again by sitting together and examining the terms and conditions I am laying out the "Forest" and then you can lay "the trees" and place them where they fit. If you are unwilling to look at the granular chronological detail I present but just repeat concepts to me thinking you are uprooting this immovable foundation, in my experience debating is extremely unfruitful as it appears you have convinced yourself that you know everything.
I would love to walk you through what we have discovered but it only can properly be examined at the microscopic level of the hundreds of pieces that make up the story of scripture... What we read is not a doctrine, but a living story of a Creator attempting to walk with His creation. The means He attempted and still attempts to do so is BY COVENANT.

The 7 Trips of Moses on Mount Sinai

Moses makes SEVEN TRIPS up and down Mt Sinai --> THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT piece of scriptural interpretation.
These chronological facts of the SEVEN TRIPS Moses made up and down Mt Sinai spanning approximately 80 to 100 days is what establishes the structure to and sets the theme for ALL SCRIPTURE, especially the New Testament. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pass this post to everybody you know… only after you have meditated on this and the Father Himself reveals this to you. It is critical to get this all down in writing with the scripture reference so the Ruach haKodesh/Holy Spirit can lead you to this special end of the age revelation. All believers who put their faith in Jesus/Yahusha ARE ABRAHAM’S DESCENDANTS (Matthew 3:9, Matthew 8:11, Luke 3:8, Galatians 3:29, Romans 4:12, Romans 9:7-8, James 2:23-24) and what happened at Mt Sinai is HOW this is so!!! We are an extension of the plan that originated here. These SEVEN TRIPS Moses made in attempting to receive THE COVENANT fulfilment of the promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's/Israel's descendants in the receiving their heritage/inheritance (The LAND promised them), by marrying (entering into covenant with) their Creator, describe in detail the marriage between Yahuah and His people, why the Messiah had to come, and the scriptural definition of “the Law of Moses”. We have seen nobody on either the “Torah” side or “Christian” side understand or notice what occurred in these seven sequential trips because they have not laid down a COVENANT FOUNDATION due to incorrect inherited doctrines and missing the overarching theme between Adam to Messiah, the Garden to New Jerusalem, which is COVENANT.  I say this not out of exalting us, but rather to emphasize the extreme significance of this revelation.  We have discovered that scripture is knitted together by EIGHT COVENANTS Yahuah made through 5 men (Noah, Abraham x2, Moses x3, David, Yahusha/'Jesus') in an unfolding fashion, of which each of the first seven (covenants) were all parts of one covenant and each played a specific function in this first marriage (a COVENANT is a MARRIAGE UNION) between Yahuah and Abraham's descendants that failed time and time again due to man's unregenerate nature always disobedient to their covenant. A covenant has a contractual structure to it. In fact, a modern day contract originates from ancient blood covenant, which is what we see take place both at Mt Sinai and 1500 years later with the death of the Savior. The New Covenant (of which also has a contractual structure) and blood shed of the Savior is directly connected to these seven trips Moses made. A CONTRACT has 4 elements:
  • An OFFER
  • An ACCEPTANCE
  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS, including a ceremony with blood ratification
  • SIGNATURE (a COVENANT is signed in BLOOD)
A modern day Wedding in our culture is followed by a ceremonial reception where the Bride and Bridegroom share their first COVENANT MEAL as Husband and Wife. This also is modelled after ancient blood covenant. We will see this occur at Mt Sinai as well. The speaking of THE TEN WORDS (often translated as Ten “COMMANDMENTS”) was, and still is, the eternal marriage conditions between Yahuah and Abraham’s descendants, which includes those of us in Yahusha/Jesus -- the WORD/TEN WORDS made flesh. This wedding day 3500 years ago is also known as THE DAY OF THE ASSEMBLY (also translated incorrectly as the word "church").  Now, since you and I in Yahusha/Jesus are Abraham’s descendants as were they of this first covenant arrangement, every topic and theme of scripture and the entire New Testament must be interpreted through what happened  here at the Day of the Assembly and subsequent 100 days following. You gotta know that we are the direct result of the events which occurred on this Day and not the other way around. How important you think you are (and I know you are important in the family of Yahusha/Jesus, our soon coming Messiah) the scriptures and New Testament were NOT written to you in the 20th century, but rather as a direct result of what occurred at Mt Sinai. Every writer of scripture understood the covenant plan, but ONLY Yahusha/Jesus (obviously), Paul, and the writer of Hebrews understood these events at a higher level ~ especially the SEVENTH TRIP Moses made, which is scripturally defined as "The Law of Moses". This may take some time for this last statement to really sink in so please don't dismiss this article because of this statement. I say this because NOT UNDERSTANDING THE EVENTS SURROUNDING THESE SEVEN TRIPS IS WHY the Hebrew Roots movement (only approx. 50 years old) and modern day Christian teaching don't comprehend these events and that is why each of their widely held interpretations of New Testament verses regarding "Law" completely contradict one another ~ in general, the "Torah" person reads "Law" and tries to make it a GOOD THING by believing "Oral Talmud" is the way to interpret Paul and the writer of Hebrews, and the "Christian" reads "Law" in the New Testament and makes it a BAD THING as it appears to be obvious in Paul's writings. In reality, they BOTH see the other sides problem... I propose to you, THERE IS A SOLUTION ~ and understanding these SEVEN TRIPS is the solution. These sequential events are deeply buried in the accounts of both Exodus chapters 19 through 34 and Deuteronomy chapters 4, 5, 9, 10, & 18 in assembling these SEVEN TRIPS Moses made. It is important to know that the Deuteronomy chapters include Moses recanting what took place 40 years earlier. So many people don’t enter the story of scripture they read as they just do “Torah readings” or teach "old testament allegories". Most teachers have no concept of a timeline and because the dividing points are either "Old" and "New" Testament (common Christian perspective) or that scripture is all one jumbled story with no dividing points (a common Torah or Hebrew Roots perspective) neither group can paint the significance of the events at Mt Sinai due to doctrinal perspectives. They do not see that there are EIGHT COVENANTAL AGREEMENTS which are the hinges of scripture, and two of these eight covenantal agreements we are going to display for you was the ORIGINAL ORAL PLAN (the speaking of His Covenant) and the ALTERNATIVE WRITTEN PLAN (scripturally defined as THE LAW OF --> MOSES). ***URGENT NOTICE AS WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS***  We in the New Covenant have been given THE ORIGINAL PLAN given at THE DAY OF THE ASSEMBLY ("CHURCH") in a much more powerful way (as the Ruach/Spirit is inside of us with the marriage conditions written on the tablets of our heart). Keeping this agreement of the TEN WORDS written on our hearts is what determines whether you will be found as the wise virgin or foolish virgin (Matthew 25 parable of wise and foolish virgins). HEBREWS 3:19-4:3 So we see that they (those WHO REFUSED the ORIGINAL PLANNED MARRIAGE and ACCEPTED THE ALTERNATIVE PLAN at Mt Sinai) could not enter in because of unbelief (unfaithfulness). Therefore, since a promise (the promise to be made a king and a priest) remains of entering His rest (His rest is given the 1000 year Sabbath rest on Earth coming, INHERITING the Kingdom of Elohim (God) by FAITHFULNESS to this covenant) let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the good news was preached to us as well as to them (comparing the blood covenant, the good news/gospel, offer at Mt Sinai to us in Yahusha/Jesus); but the word (The Ten Words, COVENANT) which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith (faithfulness of this covenant is the key) in those who heard it. For we who have believed (keep his covenant, his commandments) do enter that rest, as He has said: So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest, Let’s identify these 8 covenantal agreements, who they are with, and the function in the what is called "The First Covenant": COVENANTAL AGREEMENTS NUMBERED 1 THROUGH 8 (1 THROUGH 7 BEING ALL PART OF THE “FIRST COVENANT”) PARTY TO THE COVENANT = FUNCTION OF THE "FIRST COVENANT" 1Noah = the beginning of a new plan for mankind 2Abram = LAND given to him and future descendants 3Abraham = SEED (Isaac) guaranteed and that he will become a father of many nations. 4Abraham’s descendants = ORIGINAL PLAN @ MT SINAI ~ BROKEN (This is Our Covenant Offer) 5(temp) Abraham’s descendants = ALTERNATIVE PLAN @ MT SINAI (called The Law of Moses) 6(temp) Abraham’s descendants = Made with the second generation out of Egypt 40 years after Mt Sinai (called the Book of the Law/The Book of Deuteronomy) to go into play when Joshua leads Abraham's descendants into the LAND   7David = David’s future son (singular), who became Yahusha/Jesus, ruling over Abraham's descendants (all twelve tribes) in the LAND 8The New Covenant – reinstated the ORIGINAL ORAL PLAN and ENDED temporary covenants #5 (called the “Law of Moses”, received on Moses’ 7th trip) & covenant #6 (called “the Book of the Law”) as David’s Son in fulfilment of covenant #7 as He reigns over Abraham's descendants (you and I) to take those faithful to THE ORIGINAL ORAL PLAN to the LAND promised our father Abraham. Remember again, the FOUR ELEMENTS of a COVENANT/CONTRACT which I listed above. As you read the document you will see them as ***ASTERISKS***.

***immediately following this Wedding at Mt Sinai is the "Reception" meal between the parties of the MARRIAGE COVENANT UNION --> this SUPPER occurs on Trip 5, of which soon after committed adultery*** (The below SEVEN TRIPS MOSES MADE UP AND DOWN MT SINAI is recounting the story of what happened 3500 years ago in this short window of time, that altered the entire course of the story of scripture and of which sits the entire New Testament interpretation)                                                   ~~~~~ THE SEVEN TRIPS ~~~~~ TRIP 1 ~ EXODUS 19:3-6 Moses receives the ***OFFER*** EXODUS 19:5-6 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ NOTICE: 1 SPECIAL TREASURED POSSESSION 2 A KINGDOM OF PRIESTS 3 A QODESH/SET APART NATION COMPARE TO: 1 PETER 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light Where did Peter get this idea? ANSWER:  He knew the covenant plan! This OFFER to potentially become "His special treasured possession and a royal priesthood and a qodesh (holy) nation" was RENEWED as this was the ORIGINAL PLAN. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN ~ EXODUS 19:7-8 --> Moses went down and brought the ***OFFER*** to the elders and the people replied saying "Everything Yahauh says we will obey" which is their ***ACCEPTANCE***. TRIP 2 ~ EXODUS 19:8-13 Moses brings the people's ***ACCEPTANCE*** back to YAHUAH. Moses brought their answer back (***ACCEPTANCE***) to YAHUAH. Moses is told that YAHUAH will come in a dense cloud and speak to Moses so they will always put their trust in him (this will occur on the next trip). Moses instructed to bring the people back on the third day for THE WEDDING by instructing them to consecrate themselves and wash their clothes, to put limits for the people around the mountain, and to warn the people to not touch the foot of the mountain or they will die. They can only approach the mountain and draw close when they hear the ram's horn blown. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN ~ PREPARATION FOR THE WEDDING ~ EXODUS 19:14-20 --> Moses went down and as instructed consecrated the people and by having them wash their clothes and prepare themselves for the third day and abstain from sexual relations. —> On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning and a trumpet blast signaling the people to the mountain for THE WEDDING to YAHUAH as Bridegroom who took them out of Egypt to be His people. They trembled in the camp as YAHUAH had descended on Mt Sinai and it, smoke billowed up it, and it shook violently. Moses led the people out of the camp to the foot of Mt Sinai. The trumpet sound grew louder and louder and Moses spoke and YAHUAH answered him. YAHUAH then descended on Mt Sinai and called Moses up. TRIP 3 ~ EXODUS 19:20-24 Moses is called up for final Wedding preparations ~ THE PEOPLE SHRINK BACK IN FEAR.  Moses went up by Moses speaking ("we are all here" - basically) and YAHUAH replying to Moses, as He said He would show the people, and this is where the people become exceedingly afraid. We read more of even how afraid Moses was in Hebrew 12:21 'so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I am exceedingly afraid and trembling"'. Moses was told by YAHUAH "Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way up the mountain to see YAHUAH or they will die." Moses was told to go down and bring Aaron back up with him. (YAHUAH had spoken to Aaron earlier before Moses came back to Egypt and met with Moses here at Mt Sinai ~ EXODUS 4:27. Aaron was told earlier he would be the spokesperson of the people because Moses said he was slow in speech ~ EXODUS 4:10/16) AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN ~ THE WEDDING TIME IS HERE AND THE BRIDE SENDS MOSES IN PLACE OF THEMSELVES ~ EXODUS 20:18-19, DEUTERONOMY 5:23-31 --> Moses went down to the people and after they had seen the thunder and lightning and smoke and heard the trumpet the people shrank back in fear and stayed at a distance. The people said to Moses when he came back down that they wanted Moses to speak to them instead of YAHUAH as they had heard YAHUAH speak to Moses and believed they would die if He spoke to them. --> The Bride did a “no show” on their wedding day as they shrank back and remained at a distance. Can you imagine if you were the Bridegroom at your wedding and then the “Maid of Honor” comes to tell you that the Bride became afraid of getting married and was sent instead. That’s exactly what occurred JUST PRIOR to receiving the WEDDING VOWS. --> YAHUAH said it was a good thing they were afraid and how if only their hearts would be inclined to fear Him and keep all His commandments. Moses told the people to return to their tents. TRIP 4 ~ EXODUS 20:21, EXODUS 20:1-17 & DEUTERONOMY 5:2-22 The Ten Commandments, EXODUS chapters 21 to 23 The Book of the Covenant (Statutes and Decrees), DEUTERONOMY 4:12-14, DEUTERONOMY 18:16-18 The announcement of "The Prophet to Come After Moses" who is Yahusha/Jesus The Wedding continues without the Bride standing anywhere close to the Bridegroom ~ Moses mediates the THE WEDDING ***TERMS AND CONDITIONS***   The people had already left the WEDDING LOCATION at the base of Mt Sinai in fear, and was told to return to their tents. Moses goes now back up on Trip 4 and Aaron is not with him as instructed on Trip 3. It can be assumed that Aaron shrank back in fear with the rest of the people as we will see he is highly influential. THE WEDDING IS ALL READY TO TAKE PLACE AND WE HAVE NO BRIDE AND NO SPOKESPERSON FOR THE PEOPLE. THE ORIGINAL PLAN TAKES ITS FIRST CHANGE IN COURSE OF DIRECTION. YAHUAH comes up with an alternative plan to still marry and dwell with the people who are deafly afraid in their flesh. THE WEDDING does take place with the Bride at a far distance back at their tents as Moses stands on the mountain between Yahuah and the people. Yahuah speaks the WEDDING VOWS by speaking His TEN WORDS (mistranslated as The Ten Commandments).  There is a clear separation between the presence of YAHUAH and the people as they rejected Him out of fear.  As such, YAHUAH’s alternative plan is now to divide Himself from the people to allow being with them in their proximity, but barricaded off.  During the next trip of forty days (Trip 5) Moses is shown “the Heavenly Pattern” of the tabernacle structure to build according to the pattern shown on the mountain. This was a copy and shadow of what is in heaven (Hebrews 8:5) and the one to come from heaven was Yahusha/Jesus to change the people.  Here is how we know for certain this next trip (Trip 5) is about Yahusha/Jesus as we connect the dots to exactly what “law and commandments” of this “Heavenly Pattern” Moses is told in Exodus 24:12 he is coming to receive: Moses shares in Deuteronomy what occurred 40 years earlier at this junction of scripture. Pay close attention: DEUTERONOMY 18:15-16, ACTS 3:22  YAHUAH your Elohim will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, according to all y ou desired of YAHUAH your Elohim in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying ‘Let me not hear again the voice of YAHUAH my Elohim, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’ SUMMARY OF MOSES’ CRITICAL WORDS IN DEUTERONOMY 18:15-16
  • There is a Prophet like Moses coming in the future.  We know this Prophet is Yahusha/Jesus as Peter quotes this verse in Acts 3:22
  • The timing of of this statement was 40 years earlier in Horeb (where Mt Sinai is) and it was on the day of the assembly, which is the day of the Wedding happening here on Trip 4.
  • To further peg the timing of this statement, it was the trip before on Trip 3 that the people rejected YAHUAH by saying “Let me not hear again the VOICE of YWHH or we will die” and so they sent Moses here on Trip 4 instead.
We have to enter the story at this moment and realize what is occurring with the promised Prophet going to come.   The fear of the bride, in their fleshly state of being is what is meant in Hebrews 8:7 when YAHUAH "found fault with the people", and not fault with His Covenant ~ the Ten Words. The Word became flesh and dwelt (John 1:14) amongst them (as the Prophet like Moses to come) to change the people by writing His covenant, The Ten Words, on the people’s hearts and minds (Hebrews 8:8-10), changing the people. He will cause the people who put faith in Him to be "born again" (John 3:3, John 3:7, 1 Peter 1:23) by writing these laws/the covenant on their hearts and minds and give them His Spirit. (YAHUAH speaks His Covenant) ***TERMS AND CONDITIONS*** The ORIGINAL ORAL PLAN and also the New Covenant written on a born again heart and mind 1  I am YAHUAH your Elohim who brought you out of Egypt 2  Have no other gods and make no idols 3  Do not take the Name of YAHUAH your Elohim in vain 4  Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Set Apart (Holy) 5  Honor your father and mother 6  Do not murder Do not commit adultery 8   Do not steal 9  Do not bear false witness 10  Do not covet your neighbors possessions Moses is also given THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT (Exodus chapter 21 to 23) which was the initial statutes and decrees of this first covenant alternative arrangement —> in other words, the Book of the Covenant was given to Moses on this 4th trip to give instructions (laws) to the people of how to administer THE COVENANT, THE TEN WORDS, amongst themselves as now (for the first time in history since Adam) an entire nation is entering into COVENANT with YAHUAH. They were needing more instructions as a community than the SPOKEN COVENANT since they had already shrunk back in fear and needed to be changed.  Take note that Moses speaks of this Trip (Trip 4) of getting both the TEN WORDS, THE COVENANT, and also THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT forty years later here in Deuteronomy: DEUTERONOMY 4:13-14 So He declared to you HIS COVENANT which He commanded you to perform, THE TEN WORD (COMMANDMENTS); and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. And YAHUAH COMMANDED ME at that time to teach you statutes and judgments (THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT), that you might observe them in the land which you cross over to possess. SUMMARY OF DEUTERONOMY 4:13-14 (speaking of Trip 4 forty years earlier)
  • He spoke HIS COVENANT which is THE TEN WORDS
  • At that time (of the speaking of His covenant) YAHUAH gave Moses statutes and judgments (THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT) to teach the people
***AS A SIDE NOTE* there are some who believe there is a cookie cutter break of the Book of the Covenant and the Book of the Law at Exodus 24:12. This is a gross oversimplification. Exodus 24:12 is forty days before the sin of the golden calf, which they say Exodus 24:12 is a result of the golden calf. The Book of the Law is actually a covenant added to “The Law of Moses” (WHICH WAS INSTITUTED AS A RESULT OF THE SIN OF THE GOLDEN CALF) given on the 7th trip, which is the Book of Deuteronomy*** AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN ***THE SIGNATURE*** ~ EXODUS 24:3-8 —> Moses goes down and takes THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT and blood ratifies It (***THE SIGNATURE***) as the people agree to the COVENANT and it’s statutes and decrees. Moses sprinkles the blood on the book and the people and the agreement is in place.  Aaron is given the BOOK OF THE COVENANT as his job was officiate it among the people as the spokesperson which he will be given instructions to do so on the next Trip 5 after the marriage supper. TRIP 5 ~ EXODUS 24:9-EXODUS 32:16 Half way is the marriage supper with 70 elders and Moses and Joshua go the rest of the way for 40 days ~  THE "HEAVENLY PATTERN" OF THE MESSIAH  A) PART WAY POINT —> Moses comes up with Joshua and the 70 elders and they have a Marriage Supper celebration.  Aaron has the Book of the Covenant and Moses instructs Aaron and the elders to STAY WHERE THEY ARE if anybody has a problem they are to come up to himself and the elders to receive decisions/judgments settling disputes (Aaron and the people blow this big time as they ended up going down Moses disappeared for long time up in the cloud). B) COMLETE JOURNEY —> Moses and Joshua go further up for 40 days and 40 nights and they enter the cloud for this alternative arrangement of dividing Yahuah (Bridegroom) from the people (Bride).  Moses receives THE PATTERN OF MESSIAH: What Moses received upon his complete journey for 40 days is called a copy and shadow of what is in heaven according to Hebrews 8:5.  We know that the what is was in heaven was Yahusha/Jesus who came from heaven.   The placement of Hebrews 8:5 shows us this “pattern” of about THE NEW COVENANT (Hebrews 8:8-12) as this was NOT the ORIGINAL PLAN by giving man in their flesh opportunity to enter covenant on their own power.  The Father is setting the stage for His Son to come as this pattern as they will carry the funeral casket (the Ark of the Covenant) of the Messiah with the Ten Words (He is the Living Word) written on stone inside for the majority of the first covenant (until the House of Israel and Judah are distinct).  This PATTERN is shown Moses as it is determined HIS PROPHET will come in the future (as just told Moses)  to die for the Bride by first preparing the casket (the Ark of the Covenant) and as His body in the flesh is being prepared. This verse below is quoting Psalm 40:6 which David knew the Ark of the Covenant was where the Messiah dwelt: HEBREWS 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME. This alternative plan is be a way He can still dwell in the midst of the Bride by dividing Himself (the Tabernacle structure) from them, while all the instructions given here in Exodus chapters 25 through 31 are all temporary physical issues which when the Prophet comes like Moses is the spiritual reason these instructions are pointing to Him as the heavenly pattern of:
  • The Tabernacle instructions (The Body of Messiah and His Kingdom arrangement of believers and separation between the faithful and unfaithful)
  • The High Priest instructions for Aaron & sons (the temporary spokesman as the only human who could enter His presence once a year until the Messiah comes to tear the veil as the our SPOKESMAN)
  • The Ark of the Covenant (the funeral casket of the Messiah)
  • The Two Stone Tablets, the WEDDING VOWS (the COVENANT LAWS Yahusha/ Jesus to be later written on our hearts and minds in the New Covenant, changing the people)
THE GRACE WE HAVE IN YAHUSHA IS LINKED TO THE PRIESTHOOD OFFER
  • These Laws are Written on our hearts ~ The Ten Words/The Ten Commandments
  • Yahusha/Jesus', The Living Word/The Ten Words now lives INSIDE of the believer
  • We are now the Tabernacle of our Creator (1 Peter 2:5) as we carry the Tablets written on tablets of flesh ~ 2 Corinthians 3:3 This is why upon Yahushua/Jesus' death he tore the veil in two as written in Hebrews 9:8 of the mystery: "the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing"
  • Yahusha/Jesus’ blood cleanses our evil conscience ~ ending the need for sacrifices giving us a new nature able to overcome sin and unbelief, which they could not accomplish in their flesh
  • Satan has been defeated by now a spiritual inward covenant as Satan overcame those of the natural physical first covenant ~ the authority of life eternal given to the Son of Adam/Man
Grace is being given the spiritual authority to go before our High Priest (as opposed to no authority in the first covenant) to repent of our own sins and make yourself set apart (holy) by NOT breaking the COVENANT (by stopping our sinful patterns) as well as the privilege to mediate between other people in the keeping of the ways of the Kingdom and intercession (prayer) for each other who are battling with the ruler of this world, Satan. Grace is NOT the overlooking of sin (as so often taught in Christian circles, i.e. "we are all just sinners") but rather the POWER to not sin anymore because of this privileged access of His presence. By abusing this privilege is what Hebrews 10:29 means is "insulting the spirit of grace". AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN ~ THE PEOPLE COMMIT ADULTERY BEFORE THEY RECEIVE THE WRITTEN AGREEMENT ~ PUNISHMENT & ATONEMENT REQUIRED FOR A BROKEN BLOOD RATIFIED COVENANT ~ EXODUS 32:17-35, DEUTERONOMY 9:7-21 —> while near day 40 on the mountain and with two stone tablets in his hand, Moses is told to “GO DOWN FOR THE PEOPLE HAVE CORRUPTED THEMSELVES AND MADE GODS BEFORE THEM SAYING THIS THESE ARE THE ONES WHO TOOK THEM OUT OF EGYPT”. Yahuah was going to destroy the people and make a nation from Moses, but Moses intercedes by pleading on the unconditional blood covenant Yahuah made with Abraham, and so Yahuah relents from destroying them. Moses sees the people singing and dancing over the golden calf they made and shatters the stone tablets, BREAKING THE COVENANT. The deal is OVER.  Done. This event and subsequent two trips are CRUCIAL to see what is going on here.  Most all “TORAH” people completely miss what is going on because of their incorrect doctrine that the word “LAW” or “TORAH” means “FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES”, whereas not whithin one verse  does the word “Law” in SCRIPTURE mean this.  "Torah" is an acronym.  The word literally means "instructions" and most often is accurately defined as "the instructions of the covenant" ~ the question then is: "what covenant are the instructions given". --> Moses then asks “WHO IS ON YAHUAH’S SIDE” and Moses’ fellow clansman the Levites step forward. They are told to kill their brothers with swords as a broken blood covenant requires atonement. This is very important for believers to understand that JUDGMENT is coming for those breaking the blood covenant we have in the New Covenant with the Messiah. The Levites instructions are to strap on swords and end up killing 3000 of their fellow brothers. There is a very stiff penalty and consequences for a broken blood covenant. These consequences are far worse in the New Covenant in Messiah as GRACE makes us much more accountable to sin and unbelief to give us courage and strength to overcome because: The Levites end up becoming the PRIESTS (AND BRIDE) of the first covenant because they repented, which we will see on TRIP 6 & TRIP 7 the forgiveness sought for and granted, and the alternative covenant arrangement replacing first set of stone tablets called THE LAW OF MOSES being the alternative agreement, and the Messenger/Angel of Yahuah is sent with them who is the pre-incarnate Messiah. TRIP 6 ~ EXODUS 32:31-34:3 Moses goes up to intercede for the breaking of the covenant ~ Yahuah sends punishment, rearranges the plan in Trip 7, as His forgiveness and grace is not to destroy them. After narrowly escaping annihilation by their worshipping the calf thanks to Moses pleading the blood covenant promise made to their ancestor Abraham, Moses goes up to intercede for the people, ask for forgiveness and to allow the people to continue to the land. Moses is told all who sinned against me will be blotted out of "My Book" and a plague struck the people. Yahuah told the people to go to the LAND promised Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob (their ancestors) by He (the Bridegroom) will not go with them because if He did He would destroy them.  To see the HEART OF YAHUAH it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT because this shows us WHY the next trip is a completely different covenantal agreement making Moses THE LAWGIVER (THE LAW OF --> MOSES).  The people are very sad to hear He won't go with them and they take off their idol ornaments. The entire point of getting MARRIED here (and goal from the broken covenant with Adam in the Garden) was to then dwell together in THE LAND PROMISED BY BLOOD COVENANT TO ABRAHAM & HIS DESCENDANTS. This original COVENANT OFFER was the fulfilment of the BLOOD COVENANT spanning 400 years ~ according to the terms and conditions promised to Abraham.  This LAND is the KINGDOM COMING for 1000 years upon Jesus/Yahusha coming for the FAITHFUL BRIDE to set up His Kingdom. ("Heaven" is NOT ever the destination for any person but to hope to dwell with the Bridegroom in the land promised Abraham's descendants). They didn’t even make it fully through the wedding and the receive of the wedding vows. Yahuah agrees to then send His Messenger/Angel (The pre-incarnate Messiah Jesus/Yahusha) before them and Moses is told to come up a seventh time to receive what???? THE LAW OF --> MOSES, as Moses will become LAWGIVER as now all instructions will go through Moses from Him speaking to the Messiah in the Tent of Meeting. MOSES SEPARATES HIMSELF - EXODUS 33:12-18 Moses then set up a tent outside the camp separate the rejected people and spoke FACE to FACE with Yahuah from the tent. This was also the Messiah as Messenger/Angel He was speaking to from the tent. And, because of Moses' actions this 6th time up and persistence to ask Yahuah "to show me your glory" Yahuah TRANSFERRED His Glory and authority to Moses.  Look closely at Moses' aggression to know this is the ONLY way for His presence to continue to proceed and then Yahuah granted it to Him: EXODUS 33:12-18 Then Moses said to Yahuah, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us?  So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” So Yahuah said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” MOSES' REQUEST GRANTED AND HE BECOMES LAWGIVER EXODUS 33:19-23 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahuah before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And Yahuah said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.” TRIP 7 ~ EXODUS CHAPTER 34, DEUTERONOMY 9:24-10:5, BOOK OF LEVITICUS ***ATTENTION***this is the LAW OF MOSES A temporary covenant called "The Law of Moses" is entered with Moses ~ Moses becomes Lawgiver and receives the Book of Leviticus which includes the sacrificial system  Moses carves out his own two sets of stone tablets (As opposed to Yahuah carving out the first two) and goes up again for 40 days and 40 nights. Yahuah writes the same covenant, The Ten Words/Commandments as the first set but now the agreement is completely CHANGED:
  •  Moses is made mediator and lawgiver
  • The Levites become the priests to assist Aaron
  • The other 11 tribes lose their firstborn status and proximity to the Bridegroom by losing their priesthood offer of the original agreement
  • The sacrificial system of temporary sacrifices is now instituted (part of this agreement/1st seven chapters of Leviticus)
  • As Leviticus is given on this 40 day trip, we see the Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement added (to the original 3 Feasts/wedding anniversaries) for specific reasons as they both have to do with work the Messiah (the prophet to come after Moses) needed to fix when He comes
This is THE LAW OF MOSES (scripturally defined) is “the law that was added for transgressions” (Galatians 3:19) and “the schoolmaster” (Galatians 3:24) and "the changing of the Priesthood resulting in the 'law' changing as this TEMPORARY COVENANT was not perfect" (Hebrews 7:11-12,19). Moses comes down the mountain with the second set of stone tablets written with Yahuah’s finger and Moses' FACE WAS VEILED as he becomes LAWGIVER (LAW OF --> MOSES) and the people cannot see his face as the glory (esteem) of Yahuah is transferred to him. The book of Leviticus is given Moses during this 40 day trip and is the statutes and decrees of this temporary covenant. The Book of Leviticus was WRITTEN BY THE HAND OF MOSES (Leviticus 8:36, Leviticus 10:11, Leviticus 26:46), although remember the stone tablets were written by the hand of Yahuah. This is the distinction to be made in the New Testament writings of the difference between “The Law of Moses” an “The Law of Elohim” ~ being the Ten Words/Commandments. The first 7 chapters of Leviticus, part of the covenant ~ THE LAW OF MOSES, are instructions on how the people are to approach Yahuah in their different offerings and sacrifices. This is what everybody misses that the SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM came on this seventh trip and is attached to THE TEMPORARY COVENANT (scripturally called THE LAW OF --> MOSES) which replaced THE ORIGINAL COVENANT (THE FIRST SET OF STONE TABLETS AND BOOK OF THE COVENANT) as a temporary solution to make the people atone for each individual sin they commit as they were walking outside of blood covenant protection as that first offer was BROKEN and not re-established, but rather though Moses the mediator. THE BOOK OF LEVITICUS IS THE STATUTES AND DECREES OF THIS TEMPORARY COVENANT WHICH WILL GOVERN OVER THOSE OF THE FIRST COVENANT FOR 1500 YEARS UNTIL THE MESSIAH COMES TO EARTH, CALLED THE LAW OF MOSES, IS ALSO GIVEN TO MOSES ON THIS 40 DAY TRIP 7 LEVITICUS 7:38-39 This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering, the consecrations, and the sacrifice of the peace offering, which Yahuah commanded Moses on Mount Sinai LEVITICUS 25:1 And Yahuah spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, LEVITICUS 26:46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws which Yahuah made between Himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses. LEVITICUS 27:34 These are the commandments which Yahuah commanded Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. SUMMARY The people needed to be changed inwardly (Hebrews 8:7) and given a Helper (John 14:16) so WE CAN BOLDLY COME BEFORE THE FATHER, THE THRONE OF GRACE (Hebrews 4:16) with the power of the Spirit of Messiah within us (Galatians 4:6, Colossians 1:27) --> because these SPOKEN TEN WORD (Ten Commandments) is the COVENANT written on our hearts and minds (Jeremiah 31:31-33, Hebrews 8:8-10), and it is THE LIVING WORD (TEN WORDS) who you will see on Trip 4 who is going to come some day "as the prophet to come after Moses which we must listen to" (Deuteronomy 18:18, Acts 3:22) to make good on this covenant offer on behalf of His promise to Abraham:   (HIS PROMISE FULFILLMENT TO ABRAHAM IS YOU AND ME!!!)  GENESIS 15:5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be. ROMANS 4:18 contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” Congratulations!  By coming to the Savior you have made the heavenly Father add another "star in the sky" for Abraham, but you must RUN THE RACE by keeping this COVENANT, THE TEN WORDS, written on your heart and mind to JOIN HIM IN THE PROMISED LAND.  Join us as we keep and teach these commandments to be found THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM (Matthew 5:19). *** a special side note*** for almost a year our brother Ken Kerr in our study group with Jason and I would share how important Moses making seven trips up the mountain. In fact, it became his intro to people on the street. He would say “How many times did Moses go up and down Mt Sinai” as an ice breaker. I did not put much weight on his findings nor did I think it was even that important to know until the DAY that I found a MAJOR piece of these 7 trips which was the timing of WHEN Yahuah told Moses that “A PROPHET WOULD COME AFTER MOSES” speaking of His Son. This timing above was mentioned on Moses’ third trips and was just BEFORE THE WEDDING on trip FOUR. This shows us how significant the NEW COVENANT/NEW MARRIAGE AGREEMENT was as if you and I are standing boldly before Yahuah on that third initial trip because we have been changed. The WORD was supposed to change them on TRIP THREE by hearing the Bride hearing the Bridegrooms VOICE (My Sheep Hear My Voice) but the WORD then needed to be brought to earth to place the WORD inside of us. Do you see this? This is so powerful. I was overfilled with excitement and all of a sudden these 7 trips in my eyes went from being a novelty to being the single most important scriptural piece of interpretation within the COVENANT PLAN OF YAH. It is an absolute GOLD MINE OF TREASURES knowing these 7 trips. Hats off to our blood covenant brother Ken***
